In Module 1 we’re going to explore the history of civic engagement in Detroit. And we’re going to start way back at the start of our city in the 1700’s then move up to present day. Why cover such a long period of time? Because we cannot be effective in our civic engagement if we do not know our history. Taking time to be aware of the way our city has evolved, it’s strong roots, its challenges, and all the different people who have helped to create the city we know today is an essential part of making informed decisions.
