In the lesson, State & Federal Government, you learned how Detroit fits into the larger picture with state and federal governments. You should now know that we have elected officials that represent us at every level. We elect members to represent the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government at the city, county, state, and federal levels. Each elected officials in that role to represent us, and they count on our feedback to understand our community priorities.

Challenge
Once you find the elected officials that represent you, contact at least one of them. Let them know who you are, where you’re from, and what you care about. If there’s something you’d like to see changed or protected in your neighborhood, let them know that too. Being an engaged citizen means actively communicating our priorities!
